EXHIBITION

During the BioDesign Festival we presented the exhibition BioSculpt: Co-Creating the Future, with works by 7 internationally recognized designers and material library in the field of BioDesign who practice the process of co-creation with the natural environment. The artists' innovative design and the resilient living materials they use invite us to reflect on the sustainability of the planet and the need to start protecting its fragile ecosystems. The participants are Aleksey Manukyan, Diana Scherer, Elina Hadjinikola, Holon Design Museum, Julia Lohman, Marjan Van Aubel, Shushanik Droshakiryan and Shahar Livne. The exhibition BioSculpt was on show from 27 October until 12 November 2023.

Aleksey Manukyan (ARM)

Land artist Aleksey Manukyan is a gatherer of everything that surrounds him. From feathers on the floor to dust in the corners, dried flowers in autumn, and soil from the farms, he collects all he sees in his city, Gyumri, in Armenia.

Diana Scherer presents a nuanced exploration of humanity's relationship with nature and the eternal pull to shape and control it. In het study Interweaving she looks at plant root systems, where the roots of grass are transformed.

Elina Hadjinicola (CYP)

Elina Hadjinicola is a BioDesigner from Cyprus. Collaborating with her beekeeper father, Elina delves into the essence of 'biodesign' from a non-human perspective on the Cypriot Green Line, where bees gather pollen from both sides.

For the BioDesign Festival, we collaborated with the esteemed Design Museum Holon. Integral to the museum is its expansive material library, boasting a collection of over 10,000 diverse materials, serving as a resource for designers and innovators globally.
